Built to help every Filipino sakay with confidence.

Our mission, growth plan, launch phases, and the metrics we use to measure whether SakayGuide actually helps commuters.

🧭 Our Mission

For Filipino commuters who need reliable travel information, SakayGuide is a free, mobile-friendly website that helps them check fares, find terminals, compare transport options, view traffic, and plan a route before leaving.

We measure ourselves on five promises:

  • Know your fare before you ride.
  • Find terminals and transport options more easily.
  • Plan with live traffic and estimated travel time.
  • Check nearby gas stations and fuel prices in one place.
  • Use a simple, mobile-friendly commuter tool built for Philippine travel.

πŸ“Š How We Measure Success

Our North Star metric is Weekly Successful Route Plans (WSRP) β€” the number of weekly route-planning sessions where a commuter receives a usable result with a route, estimated fare, distance, and travel time.

A simple page visit does not prove value; a completed route plan, fare calculation, or traffic-informed trip result does.

KPI Definition 90-Day Target
Weekly Successful Route Plans (North Star)Completed planner or traffic-route results1,000 / week

πŸ”’ A Privacy-First Launch

At launch, we add privacy-respecting event tracking for key actions only: fare calculation, terminal-map use, gas-station search, route completion, saved route, ride-tracker start, and notification opt-in.

No personally identifiable travel history is collected unless users clearly consent. Location access is optional, and saved data stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy.

πŸš€ Launch Phases

Phase Timing Focus
Closed Beta Weeks 1–2 Test with MapΓΊa University students, nearby commuters, and team contacts β€” validate fares, map controls, route planning, and mobile use.
Campus & Community Launch Weeks 3–6 Share QR codes, short demo videos, commuter guides, and route-planning examples through campus groups, barangay pages, and commuter Facebook groups.
Public Growth Test Weeks 7–12 Expand to Intramuros visitors, nearby schools, and Manila commuters. Test small paid promotion only after organic usage data is available.

Readiness is checked before each phase: fare accuracy, mobile map and routing, gas-station search, optional privacy, content assets (QR code, launch post, FAQ, demo guide), and visible support/disclaimer information.

πŸ’‘ Staying Free & Ethical

SakayGuide remains free for commuters. Charging for basic fare, terminal, and route information would weaken the project's accessibility and public-service value.

Our planned monetization path:

  1. Phase 1 β€” Validation Launch: Free public site funded through school support, pilot grants, or team resources.
  2. Phase 2 β€” Ethical Local Partnerships: Clearly labeled sponsorships or featured listings for verified local services. Sponsored content never changes fare calculations or route results.
  3. Phase 3 β€” Institutional Services: Possible partnerships with schools, LGUs, and transport offices for localized dashboards.
  4. Phase 4 β€” Expanded Platform Services: Optional data tools or white-label portals once privacy, legal, and data-quality requirements are met.

🌱 Environmental Impact

SakayGuide's primary environmental contribution is informational β€” helping commuters reduce uncertainty around routes, terminals, fares, and traffic. We will not claim specific carbon-emission reductions until we have measured user behavior through opt-in surveys after completed route plans.

πŸ›£οΈ Where We're Going

Our preferred path is continued independent growth with responsible local partnerships β€” expanding from Intramuros to nearby Manila communities, then to additional municipalities with verified local data partners and bilingual support.

We scale only when we can maintain accuracy of fares, terminal information, route guidance, and user trust. Expansion without reliable local data would weaken the product's main promise.
